Toledo voters are given a good choice of mayoral candidates on Tuesday — two men with deep roots in local government and different approaches to the same job.
On one hand is the incumbent, a political maestro who manages the city with a deft hand but from above the fray.
On the other, an individual who served in the Marine Corps, worked in city government, and served two years on the Toledo Board of Education before holding a series of government jobs in Canton, Ohio, and in Michigan.
If we had the power to combine the best of these two — Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz’s steady, intelligent, and scandal-free leadership with Roberto Torres’ background and expertise in neighborhood-level development — we’d have an easy choice.
We don’t have that power, but we have to choose, and our choice is
