BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum was packed with young anglers Thursday as the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Mississippi hosted its annual banquet and awards ceremony, celebrating the end of a summer-long youth fishing tournament.
More than 400 children from across the Coast registered for this year’s Junior Jubilee , a free fishing event that ran from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The tournament encouraged kids to spend their summer outdoors, casting their lines from seawalls, piers, or boats and weighing their catches at one of 12 stations spread across the Coast.
“It gets kids outside on a boat, sometimes by the water,” 12-year-old angler Bowen Campbell said. “I’ve been to all the CCA tournaments. I turned in a lot of fish and won a lot of
