CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The West Texas A&M football team put up 493 yards of total offense on Saturday afternoon and beat out Texas A&M-Kingsville, 53-48 in a Lone Star Conference matchup at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium in Canyon.
The Buffs started out strong with the first play of the game being a 26-yard pass from RJ Martinez to Sean Johnson for a touchdown, and that gave WT an early lead. The Buffs continue with the momentum when Ashton Reynolds recovered a fumble in the endzone.
Later in the quarter, Martinez shows off his passing game by throwing a 43-yard pass to wide receiver Cristian Dixon and extends the lead for the Buffs with the score being 22-6. Drew Cox completes the score for the first quarter with a 29-yard field goal and the Buffs lead 25-14.
