WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — As travelers prepared to depart from Bradley International Airport (BDL) Saturday, an apparent victory lap took place outside with one sentiment in mind: "bye, bye Avelo."

The budget airline announced it would be departing from Bradley International Airport permanently in January 2026. The exit quickly found the budget airline at odds with the Connecticut airport.

“I’m glad at least that there has been some fallout from the campaign against them,” said Marilee Beebe from Tolland.

Beebe, who was among the protesters at the airport Sunday, said they want to hold Avelo accountable and criticize the company’s agreement to help run deportation flights for the Department of Homeland Security. The deal has now been underway for roughly half a year and prompted prote
