GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - People tried different chili recipes at the 44th annual Marion County Chili Cook-Off on Saturday.

Local teams and professional chefs competed for the coveted chili cook-off championship trophy. Besides chili, there was a bake sale, fun games, and inflatable activities for the kids.

The event was sponsored by Palm Chevrolet and hosted by the Cornerstone School. The chili cook-off also shares the spotlight with the annual car show.

“Car show started about 4 years ago... we wanted to have a way to expand the chili cookoff and do something other people have an interest in... so we started it and as you can see we are outgrowing the parking area,” said Annie Darley of the Marion County Chili Cookoff.
