The Toronto Blue Jays came within reach of a long-awaited championship but fell short in dramatic fashion, dropping Game 7 of the 2025 World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5–4, Saturday night at Rogers Centre.
Toronto jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the third inning as standout second baseman Bo Bichette launched a 442-foot, three-run homer off the Dodgers’ starter Shohei Ohtani. That blast electrified the home crowd and gave the Jays early momentum.
But Los Angeles mounted a comeback, tying the game at 4–4 after falling behind earlier. Then, in the 11th inning, the Dodgers’ Will Smith hit the decisive homer off Toronto reliever Shane Bieber, giving L.A. its first lead of the night and sealing the title.
Toronto also faced tense moments late. In the ninth, the Blue Jays loaded the bases
