With the Dallas Mavericks missing key members of their front court, Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren took the opportunity to deliver a big-time performance.
Duren scored a career-high 33 points with 11 rebounds to lead the Pistons past the Mavericks Saturday night in Mexico City, 122-110.
Cade Cunningham added his third double-double of the season with 21 points and tying his career-high 18 assists to go with six rebounds and three steals. He became the first Piston with 20-plus points, 18-plus assists and three-plus steals since Isiah Thomas in 1986.
The Pistons (4-2) started fairly well offensively, shooting 7-of-10 out of the gate, relying almost entirely on beating the Mavericks front court in the paint.
