An explosion rocked Harvard Medical School’s Goldenson Building early Sunday morning in what authorities believe was a deliberate act. No injuries were reported, but the incident has prompted a joint investigation by the FBI, Boston Police, and the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD).
Police said the blast occurred around 2:48 a.m. local time, shortly after a fire alarm was triggered.
A responding university officer saw two unidentified individuals fleeing the building and attempted to stop them before heading to the fourth floor, where signs of an explosion were discovered.
An arson team later concluded that the explosion “appeared to be intentional.” The Boston Fire Department conducted a sweep of the building and confirmed there were no additional devices, declaring the area
