NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A historic church in North Little Rock joined forces with Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde on Saturday to distribute meals to residents impacted by the ongoing federal government shutdown and potential loss of SNAP benefits.

First Baptist Church of North Little Rock handed out 50 meals along the streets near S.A. Jones Drive, aiming to support those facing food insecurity.

“This is kind of a first stab for us,” Hyde said. “We’ll see how this works and whether it is something we need to repeat and keep repeating.”
