South Africa won the toss and opted to field against India in the ICC Women's World Cup final here.

Earlier, after a light spell of rain in the morning, the sun came out bright over the DY Patil Stadium, before the pitch for hosting the final game was again under covers as the rain clouds continued to play hide and seek.

The predictions announced moderate rain, between 1 pm and 2 pm, but a sudden spell of heavy rain surprised everyone.

The toss and start of the match was pushed to 3 pm and 3.30 pm, respectively. However, it began raining heavily again around 2.45pm, delaying both the toss and start of the game. The contest will see overs lost only if such delay persists after 5 pm.
