A West Lothian family have been convicted after a £20 million fraud scheme.

Leslie Thompson, 63, was jailed for six years while wife Beverley, 60, was handed a two-year suspended sentence over the plot involving metals and electrical goods. Leslie's son Andrew Collins, 41, was handed a 22-month suspended jail sentence.

The Bathgate family were part of a conspiracy that was cracked after a huge HMRC probe, which saw 20 people convicted. Leslie and Beverley enjoyed a lavish lifestyle with two homes in Florida before finally being brought to justice, reports the Daily Record .

Director of HMRC's Fraud Investigation Service, Richard Las, said: "This incredibly complex fraud was dismantled thanks to the tenacity, skill and dedication of our criminal investigators.
