ANN ARBOR – Michigan’s already-depleted linebacker room took another hit early in Saturday’s 21-16 home victory over Purdue.

With the 21 st -ranked Wolverines (7-2, 5-1 Big Ten) down two key linebackers in Cole Sullivan and Jimmy Rolder, they moved Jaishawn Barham back to inside linebacker from edge. But just two plays into the game, Barham suffered an upper-body injury and didn’t return.

“We know how good he is,” head coach Sherrone Moore said of Barham’s loss. “But at the end of the day, everybody’s got to step up. Whoever it is, they know their job. They know what the standard is of whoever we play on the defense. They’ve got to play at high level. So yeah, we didn’t have him in the game, but that doesn’t mean that the standard changes.”
