Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked manager Vitor Pereira following a disastrous start to the Premier League season, which has left the club at the bottom of the table. Pereira's departure comes after the team suffered eight defeats in their first ten matches, marking a winless streak that has raised serious concerns about their survival in the league. The Portuguese manager, who was appointed in December last year, had only recently signed a new three-year contract in September. Club chairman Jeff Shi had previously expressed confidence in Pereira, stating that he needed time to build chemistry with the squad. However, the pressure mounted after a 3-0 defeat to Fulham proved to be the final straw. Wolves have now become the first team in Premier League history to go winless in their opening ten games for two consecutive seasons. Pereira's record at the club stands at 38 matches, with 14 wins, 19 losses, and five draws. This season, the only victories came in the Carabao Cup, with the team failing to secure a single league win. The sacking follows a series of confrontations between Pereira and frustrated fans, including an incident where he was seen shouting back at supporters after a loss to Burnley. Chants of "sacked in the morning" were directed at him during the recent match against Fulham, highlighting the discontent among the travelling fans. With Wolves now looking for a new manager, several names have emerged as potential replacements. Brendan Rodgers, who recently left Celtic, is currently the favourite. Other contenders include former Manchester United managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag, as well as Frank Lampard, who is currently managing Coventry City. Wolves face a challenging schedule ahead, with upcoming matches against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Aston Villa, as they seek to avoid relegation and improve their fortunes in the league.
