Fair price shop dealers across Gujarat have launched an indefinite strike from Saturday, halting the distribution of subsidized grains statewide. The All Gujarat Fair Price Shop Association announced the protest, under which dealers have also stopped filling government grain quantity invoices.

Over 17,000 dealers are participating in the strike, staying away from the public distribution system. PM Modi’s brother, Prahlad Modi, extended his support to the protesters, urging them to remain steadfast in their movement.

In Rajkot alone, around 3 lakh ration cardholders are expected to be affected as 700 dealers have joined the strike.

From today, the subsidized grain distribution process will remain closed across the state.
