A Coventry butchery has been told to make major improvements after receiving a one-star hygiene rating. Several major issues were identified at Al Quds Butchery in Hillfields .

Officials from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) visited Al Quds Butchery on King William Street in September. Issues with food safety protocols were identified, according to Coventry City Council .

Systems ensuring that the food sold is safe to eat urgently need to be improved. Staff were also found to have lacked the necessary food safety training, according to the FSA.

Improvements were suggested for hygienic food handling. Changes needed to be made to how food is prepared, cooked, cooled and stored.

Cleanliness was also found to be below the required standard. Issues with the building and its facilities
