Former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice NV Ramana said that cases were filed against his family members to put pressure on him. He was speaking on Saturday at the fifth convocation of VIT-AP University in Amaravati.

Without naming the previous YSRCP government of Andhra Pradesh, Justice Ramana said that even members of the judiciary, who uphold constitutional values, faced pressure and harassment. He stated:

Most of you know that my family was trapped in false cases to pressure me. At that time, those standing with the farmers in Amaravati were also intimidated and threatened.

The former CJI (2019–24) was referring to the farmers’ protest against the proposal by the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government at the time to have three capitals instead of Amaravati.
