HEIDELBERG, Miss. (WVUE) - One of the three remaining lab monkeys who escaped from a truck crash last week on a Mississippi interstate was recovered early Sunday (Nov. 2), the Jasper County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Office said.
The animal’s fate was unclear. But three of the six primates who initially escaped the crash on I-59 had been euthanized, officials said last week.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office said, “A homeowner on Hwy. 503 near Heidelberg found one of the monkeys on his property this morning. Ms Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks responded and the monkey is now in their possession. We have no other details at the moment.”
