With Yuma City Council elections quickly approaching in summer 2026, Councilmember Arturo “Art” Morales has made the difficult decision not to run for reelection at the end of his four-year term, though he looks forward to advising potential candidates and remaining committed to the Yuma community.

Morales had been engaged with the community for 15 years before deciding to run for council in 2022.

“I felt like it was time for me to get engaged from a political standpoint to help make decisions within the city, not just for economic development, but for my family,” he said.
