BOARDMAN The Boardman Fire Department is under stress due to short staffing and "current collapse" of the EMS in Boardman Township, Boardman Professional Fire Fighters Local 1176 stated in a news release.

On Saturday, the Boardman Professional Fire Fighters Local 1176 released a statement outlining the current situation within the departments and that the need for resources outweighs their capabilities with current funding and staff.

The Boardman Fire Department began Saturday's shift without the ability to staff their own medical unit, Medic 71, the release stated. Their maximum daily staffing for the department is 12 personnel, with those personnel providing the following staffing:

-Command 71: 1 Assistant Chief

-Engine 71: 1 Captain and 2 Firefighters

-Engine 73: 3 Firefighter
