WEST NYACK- Long before he played for the Yankees, John Flaherty was tearing it up in the West Nyack Little League in Rockland County.
As a 12-year-old, he pitched eight no-hitters and averaged 17 strikeouts per game. Flaherty ended a 20-year run as YES Network color commentator and studio analyst for the Yankees this week, and he received high praise from Congressman Mike Lawler (R, NY-17).
“As a proud Yankees fan and lifelong resident of Rockland County, John has been a role model for young athletes, encouraging them to chase their dreams and advocating for baseball in Rockland County,” Lawler said. The Congressman thanked Flaherty for his contributions to the YES Network and the sport.
