Louisville native and former U of L baseball star Will Smith stepped up to the plate in the 11th inning of Game 7 of the World Series, and just after the clock struck midnight Nov. 2, he hit a home run to give the Los Angeles Dodgers the lead over the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Dodgers hoisted the trophy in Toronto after holding the Blue Jays at bay in the bottom of the 11th. The World Series win is the third of Smith's career, a remarkable accomplishment for someone whose climb up the baseball ladder began in ball fields around Louisville.
