A 23-year-old woman Maoist has surrendered in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, the first such case in the State since the introduction of its new rehabilitation policy launched in August 2023, officers said.

Sunita, a resident of Bhairamgarh tehsil of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district and a member of the GRB (Gondia, Rajanandgaon Balaghat) division of the Maoists, surrendered at the Chauriya camp of Madhya Pradesh’s anti-naxal Hawk Force on Saturday (November 1, 2025) night. The GRB division is a part of the MMC (Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh) zone.

Hawk Force Commandant Shiyaz K.M. told The Hindu that Ms. Sunita had arrived at the camp without any arms and expressed her wish to surrender.
