HEIDELBERG, Miss. —
One of the monkeys that was still on the loose in Mississippi has been recovered.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Department, a homeowner near Heidelberg found one of the monkeys on their property Sunday morning. Advertisement
Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries responded, and the monkey is now in their possession.
A truck transporting the monkeys from the Tulane National Biomedical Research Center overturned on Tuesday, Oct. 28, on I-59 near mile marker 117, north of Heidelberg.
Tulane issued the following statement on Wednesday:
"Nonhuman primates at the Tulane National Biomedical Research Center are provided to other research organizations to advance scientific discovery. This is a common practice among research organizations. On Oct. 28,
