CINCINNATI (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER) -Bob Trumpy, an original Cincinnati Bengal who enjoyed a 30-year TV and radio career after playing for the team, has died . He was 80 years old, according to our media partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer.
In 2014, Trumpy received the annual Pete Rozelle Radio and Television Award for “long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football.”
Trumpy was named to four Pro Bowls. He was considered a pioneer as a pass-catching tight end.
Trumpy said years ago that being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame “never crossed his mind.”
As a player, Trumpy spent his entire career with the Bengals, from 1968 to 1977. He was named to four Pro Bowls, and was considered a pioneer as a pass-catching tight end.
