HIBBING, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Sunday morning outside the Meadowview Apartments in Hibbing.

According to the Hibbing Police Department, officers were called to the complex at 3535 9th Avenue West around 2:16 a.m. for reports of gunshots in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest.

Officers and medical staff provided aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation. Police say they are still working to identify a suspect but believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911.
