COLUMBUS, Ohio — November is packed with ways to celebrate across central Ohio, from honoring Native American heritage to welcoming the holiday season with lights, music and plenty of local cheer.
This month marks National Native American Heritage Month, and Experience Columbus is highlighting several opportunities to learn and explore. Visitors can stop by Shrum Mound, one of the few remaining ancient earthworks within Columbus city limits, built roughly 2,000 years ago.
At the Ohio History Center, a special exhibit showcases select artifacts from the Ohio Hopewell sites. The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks were recognized in 2023 as the state’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, joining iconic landmarks such as Stonehenge and the Great Wall of China.
