Navi Mumbai, November 2, 2025: India created history by winning their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup , defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, on Sunday.

Shafali Verma starred with a brilliant all-round performance, scoring 87 runs and taking two wickets , while Deepti Sharma’s 5 for 39 dismantled the Proteas batting lineup, restricting them to 246 in pursuit of India’s 298 for 7 .

Verma’s stellar contribution earned her the Player of the Match award, as India finally ended their long wait since finishing runners-up in 1982 , marking a glorious chapter in women’s cricket history.
