Nagpur: The Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa has condemned the rising number of attacks on lawyers across the state and announced a state-wide peaceful protest on Monday, November 3. As part of the protest, all advocates will wear red ribbons while attending court proceedings, symbolizing solidarity and demanding the immediate enactment of the long-pending Advocate Protection Bill .

The decision was made during the Council’s general meeting held on October 29, following a series of violent incidents targeting members of the legal fraternity. In one of the most shocking recent cases at Shevgaon, a lawyer was brutally assaulted during cross-examination by individuals angered by his line of questioning, leading to widespread outrage among lawyers.
