Halloween may be over, but not all candy has been eaten yet — so the Surrey Police Service (SPS) is out with a warning for parents.
On Saturday, SPS officers were called to a home in the Clayton Heights neighbourhood after a parent found a metal staple inside a Reese’s Peanut butter cup.
“The children were trick or treating in the area of 188th Street to 190th Street and 72nd Avenue to 70th Avenue,” said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton.
“Police are investigating and trying to determine where the candy came from.”
Anyone who finds anything suspicious in their kids’ Halloween candy is encouraged to call police to report it.
