CHURCH HILL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Maple Leaf Diner and its staff are doing their part to make sure the Church Hill community is fed by offering free meals to those in need.
The diner began offering free meals on Sunday after co-owner Tina Turner said, "God laid it upon her heart."
Maple Leaf partnered with The Homestead Shoppe Antiques next door to make the meals happen. Turner said the idea evolved into a special menu called "The Homestead Community Special."
"We were just going to do grilled cheese and fries and a drink, but we decided that we wanted to do something else that was a little bit healthier," she said. "So we have some options for anybody that wants to come in and get a meal."
Maple Leaf is accepting donations to help fund the special menu. Turner said her restaurant plans
