AHOSKIE, N.C. — Police in Ahoskie are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday.

Officers responded to the shooting at the Metro Lounge on Main Street at about 1:08 a.m., according to a press release from the Ahoskie Police Department. They found a man inside the lounge suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital and later airlifted to another medical facility for further treatment.

Several patrons were inside the lounge at the time of the shooting, but no other injuries were reported.
