Ellie Goldstein has been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing . The 23-year-old model, who made history as the first contestant with Down’s syndrome to compete on the BBC Saturday night hit, faced the dance-off with professional partner Vito Coppola following their Tango to Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra during the Halloween-themed week. ‌

Ellie and Vito went head-to-head with EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and her partner Julian Caillon. Judges Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Craig Revel Horwood all chose to save Balvinder, sending her through to the next round. ‌

Head judge Shirley Ballas , who held the deciding vote if needed, confirmed she would also have saved Balvinder but praised Ellie, saying she had been “outstanding throughout the whole competition.” ‌
