Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has slammed Wayne Rooney 's "lazy" criticism of him and Mohamed Salah .

The Manchester United legend recently questioned the pair's leadership at Liverpool this season amid a run of six defeats in seven gamess - including four consecutive defeats in the Premier League - highlighting perceived concerns over their body language.

"This is a time where the manager and the leaders in the team need to figure it out very quickly," he said on The Wayne Rooney Show before Liverpool returned to winning ways against Aston Villa.
