HALL COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A child was a witness to a murder-suicide that happened inside a home in Hall County Saturday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were called to a home in the 5400 block of Bushnell Court in Flowery Branch before 3 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 50-year-old woman dead near the doorway and the body of the suspected 51-year-old gunman in the basement.

The sheriff’s office said the nine-year-old girl was in the home “hiding in an upstairs bedroom closet.” She was unharmed.

According to the investigation, the sheriff’s office learned that the child saw the shooting and FaceTimed a friend who ended up telling their parents about the call. The parents then called 9-1-1.
