A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake has shaken northern Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). There were no immediate reports of damage.

The quake's epicenter was located 22 kilometers (14 miles) west-southwest of Khulm, Afghanistan, and had a depth of 28 kilometers. It struck at 12:59 a.m. local time on Monday, the USGS said.

Earlier, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the 6.3-magnitude quake struck the Hindu Kush region at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles).

A day before, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck the same region late on Saturday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
