BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Louisiana's wetlands, crucial for protecting communities from hurricanes and supporting local wildlife, are undergoing restoration efforts led by various organizations.

Wetland losses in Louisiana have been occurring for decades, prompting initiatives to restore these vital ecosystems. Organizations like Ducks Unlimited are collaborating with state and university partners to rebuild natural barriers and restore coastal habitats.

"It's widely known throughout the world for the challenges that we have here. But more importantly, it's our home and we need to do everything we can to protect it," said Polly Glover with Restore Retreat.
