New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough made the first start of his NFL career Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford made the 230th start of his long career. The veteran came out on top as Stafford threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns in the Rams' 34-10 victory.

The loss dropped the Saints to 1-8 while the Rams improved to 6-2.

Shough, the Saints' second-round pick out of Louisville, was named the starter earlier in the week after the offense struggled under the direction of second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler . Shough led a nice two-minute drive at the end of the first half that ended with an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end Juwan Johnson but the rest of the game was a struggle.
