A STEPFATHER who sexually assaulted two young girls in his care has been jailed.

The man, who was aged 26 to 28 at the time of the offences, and is now 31, cannot be named to protect the identity of the victims.

He pleaded guilty to three of the charges against him as the matter was about to go to trial.

He was charged and pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged 10 to 14 years and intentionally sexually touch a child aged 10-16.

A second count of intentionally sexually touch a child aged 10-16 which was taken into account by the court .

The court heard he was in a relationship with the children's mother and the stepfather and young girls formed a father-daughter relationship.
