After winning the 2022 election, Anthony Albanese was scathing of the “cult of secrecy and a culture of cover-up” under Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
And fair enough.
The multi-ministry scandal was a shocking grab for power.
One that Mr Morrison even kept secret from his supposed close friend, housemate and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.
Labor promised to be different.
But fast forward to 2025 and Anthony Albanese seems to be falling into the trap of favouring secrecy over sunlight.
Last week, The Centre for Public Integrity sounded the alarm in its integrity report card.
It urged the Albanese government to reset course and honour its commitments to transparency.
One of the most egregious examples is the proposed changes to freedom of information laws.
