Unlike ex-Veep Kamala Harris and others (Pete Buttigieg), he can pretend he was unaware of President Joe Biden’s sagging faculties without triggering open laughter.
Unlike Pennsylvania’s Gov. Josh Shapiro, he’s toed the far-left regularly enough to (perhaps) be acceptable to the party’s base, who may find running a white male non-socialist acceptable if it can get them back to power.
