Homeland Security official responds to images of ICE agents wearing Halloween masks

(CNN) – A Department of Homeland Security official is downplaying photos taken of ICE agents wearing Halloween masks during operations in Los Angeles.

The incident happened early this past week.

A group that monitors immigration authorities around Los Angeles snapped the photos.

They caught ICE wearing masks of scary characters, including Chucky the killer doll and Momo, a monster from a viral internet challenge.

When CNN reached out to the department for a reaction to the photos, an assistant secretary responded with “Happy Halloween.”
