There won’t be any gold for the Pirates this season.

Jared Triolo and Tommy Pham both came up short in their quests to win Rawlings Gold Gloves on Sunday night — the first of those a surprise considering Triolo put up numbers proving he was worthy of being a repeat winner.

Instead, Miami’s Javier Sanoja was honored as the winner among NL utilitymen, this despite Triolo leading the finalists with nine defensive runs saved (per FanGraphs).

Triolo was attempting to become the Pirates’ first repeat Gold Glove winner since Starling Marte in 2015-16.

After spending most of his time at third base in 2024, shortstop was Triolo’s most frequently played position this past season.
