No one could have predicted that Ernie Clement would be nominated for a Gold Glove at two positions in the same season, including his high school coach at Brighton.
First, like thousands upon thousands of other players, Clement had to get the attention of college coaches. Then, Clement had to climb the ladder known as the minor leagues just to make it into Major League Baseball.
And once a player reaches the majors, the next giant step is to show and prove they belong there. To be nominated for a Gold Glove? All Clement and others have to do is stand out among the best baseball players in the world. That's all.
