DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler has won a Gold Glove after his first full season in the major leagues.
He beat out finalists Alejandro Kirk of the Toronto Blue Jays and Carlos Narvaez of the Boston Red Sox to claim the 2025 American League honor at catcher.
Dingler is the first Tiger to win a Gold Glove since Ian Kinsler in 2016 and the first catcher since Ivan Rodriguez in 2007.
Dingler, 27, debuted in 2024 and wrested the starting job from Jake Rogers this year thanks to his strong offensive and defensive play.
Rogers was nominated for a Gold Glove in 2024.
Dingler appeared in 126 games and posted a .752 OPS (108 OPS+) in 469 plate appearances. He was a workhorse down the stretch, starting nearly every game in late September and catching every inning of the postseas
