BILLINGS — Gallatin's girls soccer team tied Saturday’s Class AA state championship against Billings Senior at 1-1 with a mere 2:19 left in regulation. It looked like the Raptors were in position to force overtime.

Broncs junior star forward Meadow Mahlmeister wasn't letting that happen. And she didn't.

Mahlmeister, who scored her Class AA-leading 33rd goal of the season for the match’s first goal, fired a shot well outside the box, under the crossbar and over the hands of Gallatin goalkeeper Auna Litzen only nine seconds later to give Eastern AA No. 1 seed Billings Senior a 2-1 victory and the program its third state championship in history in front of its home crowd at Amend Park.
