Few MPs make it through their political career without racking up a scar or two - and they found time to celebrate them in song as Missy Higgins dropped into Parliament House.
The award-winning performer was in the nation's capital on Monday for a pop-up event promoting the ARIA Awards and Australian artists.
Higgins performed a half-hour set featuring Hidden Ones from her 2012 album The Ol' Razzle Dazzle, her 2024 song Craters and her 2004 hit Scar, which she joked was Foreign Minister Penny Wong's break-up song.
Arts Minister Tony Burke introduced Higgins, telling the crowd gathered in a parliamentary courtyard her music had helped him deal with the death of his father.
