HSC student Neel Erande is losing faith in universities. The 17-year-old has not finished his final exams, but two of his desired university courses have been cancelled, and he fears more cuts are on the horizon.
The first cut took place at UTS, where he applied for an early offer for a communications and international studies degree. Before offers went out, he was informed via email that both his selected options would be suspended.
Then it happened at Macquarie University.
“After receiving an offer for a bachelor of arts/commerce, I was informed that the politics major had been cut and was forced to switch to a bachelor of commerce single degree,” Neel said.
He is among year 12 students who face uncertain futures due to university course removals.
