ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — One person is dead following a weekend crash in Rockford.

Blackhawk and New Milford Fire Departments were called to the scene at South Main and Prairie Road around 2:30 Saturday morning. The call was for a single-vehicle crash with someone trapped inside.

Upon arrival, fire officials said crews found the car about 85 feet off of the main road.

Authorities said they were able to pull one occupant out of the car, but that person sustained fatal injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
