State Police were investigating a crash on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead that left a driver dead early Sunday morning.
Mia-Renee S. Edwards, 19, of Hempstead, was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center after the 5:30 a.m. crash, according to State Police Trooper Brittany Burton. Edwards' 2002 gray Toyota Camry veered from the westbound lanes and left the roadway, hitting a tree near Exit 22N, the interchange with the Meadowbrook State Parkway, Burton said.
"It's still under investigation," said Burton. "We're asking for anyone with information, if they could, please call at 631-756-3300."
