COIMBATORE: A student from a private college near Peelamedu in the city was raped by a three-member gang while she was talking to her friend near Coimbatore International Airport late Sunday night. According to the police, an post graduate student from a private college in the city was talking to her friend in a car near Coimbatore International Airport on Sunday night around 11 pm. The gang, who arrived on a two-wheeler, noticed them in the car, assaulted her boyfriend, and kidnapped her. They took her to an isolated place and raped her before abandoning her without clothes. The injured boyfriend alerted the police, who launched a search and found the girl in an isolated area behind a private college, which is a kilometer away from Coimbatore Airport.
